I need to cover my boat so that snow won't get into it. This area of NY usually shrink wrap the boats. After paying for it 3 times, you baught a fairly decent cover. Can the cover be used iwth supports to withstand the snow? With a removable cover I can have access to work on boat during cold months. Plastic shrink wrap won't allow you to take off and re-install.
I have seen plenty of support systems made for northern boats by my peers. I don't however, have any experience in building them myself.
My feeling is that I would head over to your local marina and see if you can have a chat with the haul out yard, poke around and see if you can gather some info. Plus, I also googled snow support boat cover and came up with a few things. One I would personally consider are bow slates making a beehive type structure. If you do that I would run a for and aft support to stabilize the beehive.
I personally wouldn't hesitate, if you feel confident in your ability to build a structure.
